Shhh, don't tell Willow

I learned something today! Spray starch is wonderful! Let me explain.

I use bias binding all the time. I usually make my own and it's really no big deal, but I got the idea to spray the snot out of it (yes that is a technical term :P ) with starch when I iron it. What a difference! This is the smoothest, nicest binding I've ever done.

It's Willow's Christmas dress. It's the same fabrics as Violet's dress, so Willow thinks it's Violet's. So in case she does look over my shoulder she won't look too long. Hopefully, that's my thoughts anyway.

I lost one of my favorite patterns! So I had to make the pattern for this one. I drew it on butcher paper first, then cut it out of fabric, but of course it wasn't perfect on paper so I had to make some adjustments, which I then drew in on the paper version. I think it looks pretty good. I sure hope it fits. Maybe I should go into pattern making?

  2. That is a very, very cute dress! Where do you get your fabric?? I am so tired of the same old stuff I see where I shop. I have so many projects piled up, though, that I guess it doesn't matter!!

  3. Oh thanks! I actually got it in the discount fabric section at Joann's. There's some really great fabric in there, but there's also a lot of junk so you kind of have to be careful. This piece had a flaw the whole length of it, but it was near the edge and I was making small dresses so it was okay.

  4. Love this dress!! I am going to start making my 2 girls dresses after the first of the year and am looking for patterns now. Do you remember the name of the pattern? I would love to know.
    Thank you!!
    Happy Holidays!!!

  5. The original pattern was discontinued about 5 years ago, and it was a shirt anyway ;) I just changed it to make a dress. Sorry I can't help you.
