Little embroidery update

I have two more entries to show you!

Here is Dawn from Lil'd and her cube pincushion. More here.

And Aimee from Daisy Eyes with her burp cloth. More pictures here.

This is their first try at hand embroidery for both of them! That's amazing!

The first set of entries for the contest

Here is some of the beautiful embroidery that people have been sending me. First is Jaquie from My sew called life. She did these beautiful owls on a tea towel. The design came from emblibrary.com which is really a great embroidery download site.

Here's Brynne from All this by hand and her hand embroidered Christmas present for her Mom. She made it up as she went along, very impressive.

Holly from Thoughts of an Incurable midwesterner made these pillows out of a vintage tablecloth. The tablecloth didn't fit her table, but it made a lovely pair of pillows!

And last but not least Edie from The Sporadic packrat, who lives in Alaska and needed a really bright sewing basket to use during the dark winter. More on the basket here.

There's still time for more, keep 'em comin'!

I love Sew Mama Sew!

Sew Mama Sew featured me again here. I love it, that just makes my whole day *big grins*

So the embroidery contest is really on now! I have two entries, and they're both really nice.

A new purse, bitter cold and a good day

I think I'll go ahead and do the first entry for the embroidery contest.

I made this purse out of my favorite skirt that I tore a hole in long before it should have worn out. I was so sad. I made a replacement skirt but it's not even as nice. This pretty purse cheers me up a little bit.

It's been so COLD! We always have a cold snap that lasts for 2 weeks or so. Right now at 7:30am it's 0 degrees outside. Even if I wanted to go anywhere I couldn't. My van won't start when it's this cold. Oh well, I'm getting lots of sewing done. I'll try and do a shop update today. It didn't work yesterday, something was wrong with Etsy's picture server or something.

Today is going to be a great day. I'm going to get stuff done, I'm going to be patient with my girls, we're going to do school and we're going to make this day a good day dang it! We've had a rotten week so far. Actually, last week was pretty awful too. But we are going to start afresh today and turn this week around. Wish me luck.

Embroidery Contest!

Well, it's cloudy again and I can't show off my projects, so I want to see yours. We'll have a contest! I want to see how many people actually read my blog, I want to participate in Sew Mama Sew's contest swap, and I just got my new embroidery machine, so that's what I'm into right now and I could use some really great embroidery ideas.

Here are the official rules:
  • The item has to be embroidered. It could new or vintage, it could be done by hand or machine, it doesn't matter as long as it's embroidered.
  • All entries must be in by Feb 4, 2008. That gives you two weeks.
  • All entries will be judged on Feb 4th and the winner will get a prize that has yet to be determined. I dunno, maybe an embroidered purse or a Valentine item.
  • Email your entry with pictures to willowsmama1 @ yahoo . com. By sending pictures you give me permission to post them on my blog.
Let the Great Embroidery Contest begin!

The clouds have parted...

And I shall flood you with pictures!
First of all, I got this last week! Isn't it beautiful?

This was my first project with it. It's a bath mat. I need to wash and iron it and it will look a lot better. It'll go on Etsy later.

And more balls.

And some pins which need better pictures. Common more sunshine!

Oh, and here's the doll Willow and I made for another birthday party.

Plus I made a baby blanket for church, which I didn't get a picture of. I embroidered one of Willow's dresses and some of her pajamas, and got started on a heart bunting kind of like my star bunting.

Oh, I feel so much better.

Grrrrrr

I'm getting so frustrated! I have all these wonderful things I've been working on, and I have no light to take pictures!
We have had record snowfall this winter, this is the most snow in 40 years. Even growing up on the top of a mountain I've never seen the snow this deep. Which is all fine and good except that it's so dark! I can't take good pictures. Sadness.

The pinkest little doll ever

I'm trying my hand and making a doll pattern. This one need some serious alterations...

But it's so Pink!

The girls don't care that it's shaped kinda funny. I'll keep working on it though, in fact, Willow and I will make a second attempt today. Stay tuned.

I love blue

Look that these! I just love them. I found the pattern here, and added appliqué to make them my own.

Now I want to keep them! They're on my Etsy shop though. I'll have to make some more to keep, and some for Willow of course, and maybe some for Violet, and and and.....

My big girl

My baby is 5. How did that happen so quick? She's tall and beautiful and smart and talented and 5. Wow.
